This amazing photographer [...] born in 1976 and has already achieved great success in his career as a celebrity photographer. He always enjoyed taking pictures from a very young age but never actually thought of doing it as a career one day. He never really thought you could make money from taking pictures which he really had a passion for.

So Norman studied both architecture and graphic design, until one day he read an article about a very famous photographer Richard Avedon’s. The article was about all the work that Richard has done and how he made a career out of photography and this article is what inspired Norman Jean Roy to start a career in photography. Norman grew up in Montreal and started taking pictures at only six years old at first taking pictures was nothing more than just fun, but as he grew he started liking the fact of freezing time. In High school Norman was the year end photographer.

After studding he worked for a company called Saturn a car company as a designer, he then quit his job to start his career as a photographer, first working with modeling school’s, which he did for a couple of years. After doing that he ended his career as a photographer because it was not going anywhere.

The next thing Norman wanted to do as a career was Golf which lasted only 6 months. In 1994 American Photo published an issue on Avedon, Which greatly inspired Norman to get back into Photography and really make a go at it. The very next morning he put all his money together and shot two stories, made a book and moved to Paris.

We already know that he grew up in Montreal so his first language is French, and he wanted to do fashion photography so Paris was the perfect location and him being able to speak French made it much easier because communication was not a problem for him in Paris. One of his friends that lived in Paris which was a scout for Elite took him under her wing. When Norman was in Paris he worked for various magazines doing editorial work, trying to jump start his career, things were going well but for personal reasons he moved back to the United States (Nashville) where he lived before he moved to Paris.

The next step he took was doing promo pieces, this is also when he finally started dong fashion photography and portrait stories, and doing full portfolios instead of things here and there.
